Message If you have an OOR(out of round)or OOT(out of tolerance) big end of the rod you would have to fix or replace. When you measure the I.D.(inside diameter)on the big end of a rod it should be 2.0868(nominal)ie middle of the tolerance per fsm [ http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=em&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=66&design=default&total=70 ]

The middle of the road(nominal) for the rod bearing journal on the crank is 1.9671 per fsm [ http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=em&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=68&design=default&total=70 ]

so 2.0868 example rod big end id(inside diameter)
-1.9671 example crank journal O.D.(outside diameter)
=0.1197 difference between them
(.0015)nominal
and you want .0011-.0019 (diameter)of clearance in between the two. You would select a rod bearing that achieves that. which per the fsm would be [ http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=em&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=69&design=default&total=70 ]

so 2.0868 rod big end example
-1.9671 crank journal example
=0.1197 difference between them/amount of bearing needed
-0.0015 nominal clearance, diameter wise rod to crank
=0.1182 divide this number by 2 to get
0.0591 amount of bearing material if u measured the outside of bearing to the inside of bearing

looking at the chart you could use a #1 or #2 bearing journal if this was your numbers.

It sounds confusing and I hope this helps. Its much easier once you measure everything and have your actual numbers in front of you.

As for the lifters I always heard turning them upside down is unacceptable [ http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=em&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=27&design=default&total=70 ]

Good luck
